- Radiation

Radiation is a form of energy waves or moving subatomic particles. It can be identified as ionizing or non-ionizing radiation, depending on its effect on chemical elements. The term radiation usually refers to ionizing radiation. Ionizing radiation has sufficient enough energy to ionize atoms and molecules, whilst non-ionizing radiation cannot. Radioactive material is atomic matter that emits ionizing radiation.
